  • A house to view Lake Geneva

A dramatic new build contemporary house on an elevated site overlooking Lake Geneva in Switzerland has received full planning consent.

The design strategy exploits the key aspects of this unique site to create a spectacular new house, conceived as a glacial landscape where spaces and views flow like water through the house and to the lake and mountains beyond.

Spatially the house steps down the sloping site with the main volumes pulled apart to form a series of internal and external courtyards, ponds and dramatic double and treble height spaces that fill the building with natural light.

Formally the building is inspired by the proportions and grandeur of classical colonnaded villas interpreted to create a contemporary 21st century design that also embraces modern environmental technologies in order to achieve the 'Minergy Plus' standard.
